Governance is free for Team estates, up to 30 workspaces, 300 items and one capacity, and a flat monthly fee for Growth and Business estates; see below for how the line works. Enterprise estates, past 150 workspaces or 1,500 items, are priced individually. Every limit counts across the whole tenant, whatever capacity a workspace sits on. Operations and Backup are separate add-ons: take either, or both. They scale in the same clear steps, never by users or seats. Backup storage, retention, and Fabric capacity are yours and never metered; restores are unlimited at every tier.

Short answer: yes. Here's the long answer, because you should never take a pricing claim on faith.
What free actually gets you
The complete governance product for your own Azure tenant, indefinitely, with no credit card. It's the same engine that runs underneath the paid capabilities, not a stripped demo. Comparable governance products are typically paid products; Fabric Control makes its governance layer free for estates up to 30 workspaces, 300 items and one capacity, counted across the tenant.

Where the line sits
The free tier shows you the state of your environment and keeps one year of its operational history. Paid capabilities add what protects and operates it: backup and recovery, centralized logging, and SLA tooling.

When an estate outgrows the free tier
Free governance covers an estate up to 30 workspaces, 300 items and one capacity, counted across the tenant. As yours gets close to any of those lines, we'll let you know. Once it crosses, we'll ask you to move to the Growth or Business tier and keep reminding you, and governance keeps running in the meantime. Ninety days after that first request, Fabric Control keeps watching what it already watches and stops adding new workspaces, items or capacities until the estate upgrades. Crossing the line switches nothing off and deletes nothing. Nothing changes for anyone under the line.

The free governance tier is yours to keep, indefinitely, with no card. During the beta, early adopters run Backup free for their first 3 months; the standard 14-day full-product trial described below returns once the beta ends.

Backup and point-in-time recovery, plus the full Operations tier: SLA and blast-radius, access governance, cost attribution, and universal pipeline logging, all active, with your accumulated picture fully un-redacted, for 14 days.

Reverts, never locks
When the 14 days end, you drop back to the free governance tier and keep using it. Nothing is held hostage, no card was ever required.
Running more than one Azure tenant, or Fabric for clients? The free tier covers your own organization's tenant. Every other tenant, including any you operate on a client's behalf, needs a paid plan: the multi-tenant plan below once it ships, and until then, talk to us.
Your own database, shared with no one
By default, the operational metadata Fabric Control collects sits in a database shared with other customers. Some estates can't accept that. Dedicated isolation gives yours a database of its own, used by no other customer. Nothing else changes: Fabric Control still reads metadata only, your data never leaves your tenant, and backups still land in storage you own.

Healthcare, financial services and the public sector, where a compliance review rules out shared infrastructure for any vendor.
Security-led approvals
Security teams that won't approve a tool whose data shares a database with anyone else's.
Contract requirements
Customer or partner contracts with a data-isolation clause that a shared database can't meet.
