Your data never leaves your tenant.

Fabric Control protects, recovers, and governs your entire Microsoft Fabric estate on operational metadata alone. Free forever for one Azure tenant.

Fabric gives you power. It doesn't give you guardrails.

Microsoft Fabric is a formidable analytics platform, with real native administration and governance. What it doesn't hand you is the operational layer on top: one live view of the whole estate, independent backup and coordinated recovery, and provable evidence of what changed over time.

Admin portal Monitoring hub Capacity metrics OneLake catalog Four screens, no whole

Limited operational visibility

Health, capacity, and refresh status are scattered across the portal. Knowing the true state of your environment at a glance is harder than it should be.

Recovery, not backup

Fabric's native recovery is real, and it's recovery: it lives inside the platform, on the platform's terms. A backup is a different thing: an independent, scheduled, versioned copy you hold, in storage you own, that restores to a point in time you choose, a single table included, long after any window has closed. That is what Fabric Control adds.

Governance you can't prove

When an auditor asks who changed what, and whether data ever left the tenant, you need an evidence trail, not assurances.

A dedicated control plane for your Fabric tenant

Fabric Control connects to your Azure tenant and gives you one place to govern, protect, and prove, without ever moving your data outside your boundary.

Free forever for one tenant. Flat fees when you grow.

The beta is open. Here's exactly how it works, and what early adopters get for installing first.

Free forever

Your own tenant, no card

Run the complete governance product against your own Azure tenant, up to 30 workspaces, 300 items and one capacity, with one year of operational history, at no cost, indefinitely. Not a crippled demo: real control-plane visibility, egress safety, entitlement and drift detection. No card, read-only and metadata-only, revocable anytime. This is the offer.

Beta early adopters

Backup free for 3 months

Install Fabric Control on a real estate in October and run the Backup tier at no charge for your first 3 months: scheduled, off-platform backup into storage you own, with point-in-time and table-level restore. We ask for honest feedback and one test restore. After that, keep Backup at the published flat fee or drop back to free governance.

Multiple tenants, or Fabric for clients? The free tier covers your own organization's tenant, and every other tenant needs a paid plan. A single view across tenants is in development as the multi-tenant plan (see pricing).

Forty years of enterprise data operations, in one control plane.

Fabric Control was built by Peter Dobler, who spent four decades running production database and BI estates, including building Dobler Consulting Services, a data and BI firm, to No. 1,002 on the 2017 Inc. 5000, before building the tool he wanted for Microsoft Fabric.

Common questions

Does my data leave my tenant with Fabric Control?

No. Fabric Control reads and reports operational metadata only. It doesn't read or transmit the contents of your tables, files or reports. Where backup is enabled, backups are written to storage you own, under keys you control.

What is the difference between backup and recovery for Microsoft Fabric?

Fabric's native protection is real. OneLake soft delete keeps a deleted file for seven days and the recycle bin restores a deleted item within its retention window, both in place and time-boxed; capacity-level disaster recovery replicates OneLake data to the paired region. None of that is a versioned backup you hold, and a lakehouse has no point-in-time restore. Fabric Control adds automated, scheduled, versioned backup with point-in-time and table-level recovery, into storage you own. Restore-dependency sequencing, which brings an estate back in the right order, is in development and not yet part of the beta. Backup is a paid tier.

Is Fabric Control really free?

The full governance product is free forever for your own Azure tenant, with no credit card, not a limited demo. It covers estates up to 30 workspaces, 300 items and one capacity, counted across the tenant, and keeps one year of operational history. Running Fabric for clients, or across more than one tenant, needs a paid plan. Larger estates move to the Growth or Business tier; the largest are Enterprise. Backup and the Operations tier are paid, on flat fees that scale with estate size. Early adopters who install during the October beta run the Backup tier free for 3 months, then decide whether to keep it.

How do I prove Fabric governance to an auditor?

Fabric Control tracks configuration and entitlement drift continuously, so you can show what existed, what changed and who had access over time: an evidence trail rather than a point-in-time snapshot or a verbal assurance.
